Finding your flow is easier said than done. I think it looks like doing a little at a time to avoid overwhelm. Giving yourself a moment to reset in the middle of the chaos.
For me it can look like watching a show…preferably with someone more inspiring than not–or maybe just a feel-good Hallmark movie.
Whatever it takes to reset your mood and hopefully reset your motivation.
It just should not contain doom scrolling on any social media platform. I’m not getting much of anything done on those days.
You are the greatest project you will ever work on. Restart. Reset. Refocus. As many times as you need to, just don’t give up.
Since closing the bakery, my reset looks like catching on the poor neglected corners of my house.
They were all neglected.
It is all so overwhelming.
But I know that I’m not going to feel better about it if I allow myself to disconnect and ignore the chaos.
No matter how long I disconnect, the chaos is still waiting for me on the other side–too tired no longer feels like a viable excuse.

Today’s project: Closet Reset.
It’s the least seen part of the house, as far as guests go, so it’s never a priority. It’s also the only space that is on my immediate to do list that isn’t getting a complete overhaul.
I keep thinking that I need more storage containers or pretty items and then I’ll maintain. Those things don’t do anything for me. If I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist. If there are too many things causing issues to access those things, it doesn’t exist.
I wish that I had added a drawer storage system and added more hanging space or even made it a bit taller…I don’t know if that last one was my design choice or the contractors though.
Either way, it’s a big closet…I just need to figure out how properly organize it and stop allowing the overflow.
Future projects and the inevitable struggles:
I know that I will struggle to maintain each space as I move on to the next. And the next projects are some doozies.
Coming soon…Pantry Refresh.
I did already rip up some carpet because defrosting the freezer proved to be a bit of a challenge for me. The carpet has been in there for who knows how long so it needed to go anyway. I’m just in limbo waiting for the final flooring decision and who’s gonna install it.
Next (maybe): Kitchen Reno.
We’ve talked about a kitchen reno for a while now. The cabinets, I’m told, were a daddy/daughter DIY project.
We’ve painted them since moving in, eliminating the gaudy orangey stain color that was once popular, I’m sure. But the drawers leave “sawdust” residue on the things stored below them, so we have to rewash dishes before using them.
Truth be told–those things are mostly just collecting saw dust. I’m hoping that kitchen reno gives me a new sense of inspiration once it finally happens and I’ll use more of those tucked away items.
